Our Work

Fairfield 08's Long-Term Goals are to:

  •  Develop 1,735 units of affordable and permanent supportive housing by 2014;
  •  Improve the lives of over 2,500 chronically homeless individuals and families;
  •  Save $20 million in social program expenditures over seven years by reducing the costs for homeless shelters, inpatient and crisis-oriented services;
  •  Expand partner agencies from four to eight by 2009 and outside board members from 3 to 7;
  •  Create and disseminate new, more efficient means to provide permanent supportive housing;
  •  Provide quality asset management services for our portfolio of affordable and permanent supportive housing.

Our Regional Approach

We fill the gaps in homeless support created by a city-by-city approach, as well the mobility of the chronically homeless between cities. Our collaboration allows us to achieve efficiencies of scale, assemble the best development teams, and employ greater leverage in negotiating development deals to hold costs down. Collectively, Fairfield 08’s member agencies have developed and operate 824 units of affordable housing. In January 2008, Fairfield 08 took over the asset management of 515 of the units in this portfolio that are set aside for permanent supportive housing. Additionally, Fairfield 08’s member agencies operate shelters, transitional housing, low-income family units, Single Room Occupancy (SRO), and HIV/AIDS residencies. Social services are provided by our member agencies. Through collaboration among member agency’s senior staff we strive to create quality benchmarks, articulate best practices and provide cross training to ensure we provide the highest quality services throughout our permanent supportive housing developments.
