Community Impact

Our goals for community impact

  • Create 1,735 units of affordable and supportive housing by 2014 through:
    • Approximately 787 units developed through the Fairfield 08 member organizations
    • Facilitating the development of an additional 808 units of affordable and supportive housing by other developers, particularly private sector developers, by 2014
    • Securing master leases to create another 140 units
  • Permanent supportive housing tenants served by these new developments will report measurable improvements in their lives, including increased employment and income and increased independent functioning, as measured by resident surveys to be administered upon entry into the property and again after 1 year of residence.
  • Achieve social cost savings through a minimum of a 50 percent decrease in average utilization of inpatient medical services in the year following entry into the property, as measured by Medicaid records of a sample of residents

Fairfield 08 will partner with the Corporation for Supportive Housing and with area Universities to assist in the measurement of outcomes.  The Corporation for Supportive Housing is currently conducting analyses of emergency and inpatient medical services utilization pursuant to a Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) requirement; Fairfield 08 will provide the support necessary for these evaluations to be conducted in the properties to be developed.  Fairfield 08’s nonprofit member staff will administer surveys of employment and independent functioning among residents served by the new developments as well as utilizing data from social worker assessments from meetings with residents.  Fairfield 08 will rely on guidance from University experts and staff at Corporation for Supportive Housing to ensure that evaluation research is conducted using a rigorous, systematic approach and that confidentiality and other ethical concerns are respected.
